She floats!
A very exciting day for us and our client Saga Cruises.
On 24th July 2020, Spirit of Adventure floated out of the building dock at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Germany ready for her funnel to be mounted.
Background
A poignant occasion for us as we’ve been involved in this project since the beginning, in 2018, providing a comprehensive architectural design service. This included overall design direction and project support and our involvement continues today with on-site guidance as we gear up for the final delivery in a few months.
Design strategy & concept
Spirit of Adventure will possess a distinctive personality; confident and bold, offering a fresh boutique style to the cruise market. This has only been possible through Saga’s commitment to, and understanding of, delivering great design and service. This combination has made for an exciting and enjoyable project for us to work on.
Chris, our founder & CEO says; ‘potential Saga guests are looking for aspirational interiors with personality, which offers a relaxed and luxurious backdrop to the fantastic service.’ It’s no secret that luxury has become more accessible to a wider demographic, therefore people are more discerning and design aware. Understanding the importance of design and its marketability presents an opportunity to retain and attract new guests.
Nicola Preece, Design Director of our agency explains, ‘the interiors will embody the best of British contemporary design. The approach is bold and adventurous, eclectic, and with carefully curated use of colour, offering variation, big-scale patterns and a layered palette.’
When can I get onboard?
All being well, the inaugural cruise for Spirit of Adventure is set to be 5th November 2020. All the latest information on ship delivery and the ship can be found on this dedicated Saga blog page.
