The design
There is an emphasis on natural finishes, two-tone timbers, glass, and mirrors used throughout for heightened notions of Caribbean luxe, bringing the outdoors and local landscape inside.
The design relies heavily on the quality of materials and detailing. The palette is natural, neutral and balanced with the essence of the tropics.
The Pavilion is designed to evoke the sense of an art gallery, a neutral and balanced canvas for clients to progress their journey of movement, strength & stamina. Big windows act as focal points in The Pavilion space below and cause visual punctuation of the architecture. The glass windowpanes effectively contrast the timber wall panelling, echoing through to the building.
Arrival & Client lounge
The first notable design cue is the subtle TRR branding inlaid into the hexagonally laid stone floor. These represent the three pillars of the TRR brand: Optimise, Train, Restore.
Guests are greeted at the sustainably sourced timber host console. Above this is a spectacular, open-tread staircase leading to the mezzanine.
Bringing our attention back to the space below, the wall by the reception desk features a shelving area for retail opportunities with TRR-branded merchandise and other decorative objects.
There are full-height glass windows that run parallel along the long exterior walls of the building. These windows bring in vast amounts of natural light and an opportunity to utilise the beautiful surrounding arboretum of The Grove, blue skies, and palm trees into the space.
Main studio
Natural daylight flows into the lofty and spacious double-height main studio, which the Mezzanine gallery overlooks.
There are full-height white tiled walls, which also incorporate the palm motif to complement the palm that is included in the environmental floor branding. The handmade clay tiles are from Nove near Venice. The surface features a bas-relief pattern of fan-palm leaf detail. In strategic locations, these are emphasised with brass bas-relief to represent the Rec room’s 3 pillars; Optimise, Train, Restore.
Below the gallery-style mezzanine windows are large mirrors that reflect the blue sky and green-palmed local scenes into the space, evoking a sense of being outdoors whilst training. And unifying pinch and pleated warm oak panelling is continued throughout the architectural detailing.
With over 60 years of accumulated experience, experts in the fitness industry curated the specialist gym equipment and room layout. Tan leather stitch detail on some pieces unifies and elevates the equipment.
Changing suites
The changing suites evoke notions of a luxury spa with eye-catching Italian marble floors. The suites also house a Klafs Finnish sauna and steam experience showers featuring Dornbracht fixtures.
The vanity area is perfect for pampering. The space includes RFK luxury French linens and Doers of London organic and vegan skincare products. Guests can help themselves to the custom-made TRR vanity accessories also provided for use.
The Restore rooms
The Rec Room Pavilion features three Retore rooms. Like the rest of the facility, they are designed to the highest specifications.
The floor is made from black marble. The walls are a unique-looking striated bamboo effect white Calacatta marble, which reaches full height. The natural stone contrasts successfully against the timber cabinets with their reeding detail.
