Crystal Endeavor is welcomed into the fleet!

Our long-awaited project, luxury expedition ship, Crystal Endeavor, has now been christened.

On Saturday, June 26th, in Stralsund, Germany, Crystal Expedition Cruises officially welcomed its new 20,200 GRT luxury expedition yacht Crystal Endeavor to the Crystal fleet. The ship was christened by Godmother Manuela Schwesig, Prime Minister of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.

A momentous day

“Crystal Endeavor’s naming ceremony is a sign of Germany’s relaunch as a shipbuilding location and I am honoured to be named Godmother, and proud for our region and country to play an important role in the story of this unique ship,” Prime Minister Schwesig said.

‘The most luxurious and expensive ship ever built at $20,000 per gross tons, she sets a new high standard in luxury cruising including the largest space ratio, at over 100 gross tons per guest.’

Crystal Cruises
Our role

Our services included guiding flow optimisation, public room layouts, cabin modules and support services, liaising closely with naval architects, expedition experts and operational sponsors. We continued to support the process right through to delivery.

AD has played a significant role in designing the ship’s entertainment spaces, dining and public areas. While each space has its distinct design, it was a fundamental objective to ensure fluidity when travelling from room to room. You can read more detail on our areas here.

We have worked on several projects for Crystal Cruises, from yacht to river, to ocean-going cruise ships. Crystal Endeavor is the first ship in the fleet for Crystal Expedition Cruises.

About the ship

Crystal Endeavor is the most spacious luxury expedition ship in the industry. The ship will accommodate just 200 guests with a one-to-one crew-to-guest ratio.

The vessel is designed to the highest standards of German engineering, focusing on the luxurious details that have earned Crystal the travel industry’s highest accolades for more than 30 years.

Crystal Endeavor cost more than half a billion U.S. dollars to build. She will be the fastest and most powerful expedition ship in the industry, with a Polar Class 6 (PC6) classification that enables her to sail in the Arctic and Antarctic regions.

Maiden voyage

Crystal Endeavor’s maiden voyage will take place on July 17, 2021. She will sail a round-trip from her homeport of Reykjavík on five consecutive 10-night cruises. The route circumnavigates Iceland, crossing the Arctic Circle and explores geothermal wonders, massive glaciers, countless waterfalls, havens of rare sea bird colonies and migrating whales, remote valleys and quaint villages throughout Iceland.
