Whether tackling a full-scale newbuild or a periodic refurbishment AD Associates can demonstrate our historic and most recent projects as both lead architect and supporting roles. Chris and David have been instrumental in the design & delivery of numerous cruise, river and yacht vessels, from Crystal Cruises Esprit & Mozart, refurbishments for Star Cruises & NCL, to prestigious vessels such as P&O Cruises, Britannia and Cunard’s Queen Mary 2 and Queen Elizabeth.
Our most recent projects are described in a little more detail below.
Crystal’s entry into the river cruise market heralded the arrival of Crystal Mozart and a significant project for AD Associates to play a pivotal role in the expansion of the brand.
Working closely with Crystal Executives and operational specialists alike, AD Associates had a strong collaborative presence from the very beginning, attending site visits and developing the project’s brief. With a challenging eight months between purchase and delivery, AD Associates demonstrated their ability to work within tight timescales, leading throughout the process from concept, design, and delivery, not just on the interiors but exterior styling and vessel livery too.
AD Associates have experience working with a diverse network of cruise operators, including P&O Cruises. Aboard the Azura cruise ship we designed two significant food & beverage outlets both with unique concepts. Creatively responding to the clients brief, these outlets have now become signature venues aboard many P&O Cruises vessels.
Brodies features a design concept built on the shell of a Victorian London pub, combining a sports bar, live entertainment and casino into one multi functioning space. An eclectic palette defines seating groups and creatively responds to IMO regulations, whilst a central island bar acts as a focal point for guests to enjoy.
Inspired by the journey from vine to glass, The Glass House design emphasis was to facilitate an appreciation of fine wines aboard Azura. In response to this, AD Associates custom designed the glass wine cellar which is both aesthetically and operationally a success.
Entering service in 2017, with a further two vessels of the same class a year later, Crystal Bach and Mahler represent the first newbuild river vessels for Crystal.
Representing as lead from the outset and as the sole designer during the construction and delivery phase, AD Associates has been instrumental in the initial concept / R&D of the vessels, working closely with Naval Architects and specialists alike to optimise the design.
Throughout AD Associates have provided a vast array of services, from weight and budgetary analysis, brand presentations to site supervision, mock-up and acceptance tests. We proudly await the vessels delivery to complete dressing out and quality assurance reviews.
Distilling the Crystal experience down into a much smaller package challenged AD Associates to reimagine this sleek and sophisticated yacht. Characterised by Crystal’s unique understanding of luxury, Crystal Esprit required AD Associates to lead on conceptual design, working closely with guest experience and technical teams to achieve operational effectiveness and ensure compliance with regulatory and port state authorities. The project concluded with significant site support and assistance as the vessel entered service.
